Fresno County is the sixth (6th) largest and
the tenth (10th) most populous county in the State of California. Fresno County

Fresno County was formed in 1856 from portions of Mariposa County,
Merced County and Tulare County.
The raisin industry started in Fresno in the late 1800s when grapes were
accidently left to dry on the vine.
Agriculture continues to be one of the primary industries in Fresno County.
With many billions of dollars production in the County, Fresno is one of the
largest agricultural counties in the United States. Its major crops and
livestock include: Almonds, Cattle, Cotton, Grapes, Milk, Nectarines,
Oranges, Peaches, Plums, Tomatoes, and Turkeys. Fresno also has a large
business and commercial presence in California.
