Fresno County is the sixth (6th) largest and the tenth (10th) most populous county in the State of California. Fresno County has a rich history.
Fresno County was formed in 1856 from portions of Mariposa County,
Merced County and Tulare County.
The raisin industry started in Fresno in the late 1800s when grapes were accidently left to dry on the vine.
